MENTAL HEALTH HOTLINES​:

    • ​​1-888-NYC-WELL (1-888-692-9355) is a free, confidential help line for New York City residents. You can call 24 hours per day/7 days a week. The staff of trained mental health professionals help callers find mental health and substance abuse services. NYC Well is multilingual and multicultural:

  • Crisis Text Line
    • Free, confidential, 24/7 text message service for people in crisis. Every texter is connected with a Crisis Counselor, a real-life human being trained to bring texters from a hot moment to a cool calm through active listening and collaborative problem solving. All of Crisis Text Line's Crisis Counselors are volunteers, donating their time to helping people in crisis.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE:

If you are concerned about being quarantined in an unsafe home situation or need help, you are not alone. There are resources available. ​
  • Shelters
    • Shelters in New York City are essential services and still open for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and other abuse. Find a shelter near you: domesticshelters.org​
  • Hotlines
    • The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 in English/Spanish at 1-800-799-7233 (SAFE). 
    • If you’re unable to speak on the phone safely, you can text LOVEIS to 22522 or chat online with a counselor at thehotline.org
    • Individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing may use: 1-800-787-3223 (TTY)
    • The National Sexual Assault Hotline is 24/7, confidential and free: 800.656.HOPE (4673) and through chat.
    • The New York State Domestic and Sexual Violence Hotline is available in multiple languages: call 1-800-942-6906
    • The StrongHearts Native Helpline for domestic/sexual violence is available 7am-10pm CT, confidential, and specifically for Native communities: 1−844-762-8483.
    • The Trans LifeLine for peer support for trans folks 9am-3am CT: 1-877-565-8860 This hotline staffed exclusively by trans operators is the only crisis line with a policy against non-consensual active rescue.
    • For LGBTQ+ folks experiencing abuse or hate-based violence: Anti-Violence Project offers a 24/7 English/Spanish hotline for LGBTQ+ folks: 212-714-1141
    • National Parent Helpline Monday - Friday 12pm-9am CT emotional support and advocacy for parents: 1-855-427-2736.
